Bicester Underpass 3D Visualisations
Working alongside the Bicester Bike Users’ Group (BBUG), I developed a series of visualisations and animations to advocate for a transformative solution to the town’s most significant transport challenge: the London Road level crossing. For years, the community faced the prospect of the town being "split in two" by the expansion of East West Rail. My role was to bring BBUG’s vision to life, demonstrating how a well-designed underpass could maintain vital connectivity for the town centre.
I am thrilled to see that this vision has moved from advocacy to reality. In April 2026, East West Rail officially confirmed that a motorised underpass is now the preferred solution for the London Road crossing. The new design—which mirrors the principles we visualised—will include a protected active travel corridor for pedestrians and cyclists alongside a single-lane road for vehicles.
